چکیده

Bacteria are generally the predominant initial inhabitants of newly expanded leaves, while yeast and filamentous Fungi dominate later in the growing season (Srivastava and Shalini, 2008). The extraordinary use of chemical fungicides resulted in environmental pollution and ill health to biotic community as a whole. Therefore biological method of plant disease management seems to be a better alternative to chemical fungicides in managing the ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 2 Number 1 (2013) pp. 59 65

Characterization of Antimicrobial-Producing Beneficial Bacteria Isolated from Huanglongbing Escape Citrus Trees

The microbiome associated with crop plants has a strong impact on their health and productivity. Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (Las), the bacterial pathogen responsible for Huanglongbing (HLB) disease, lives inside the phloem of citrus plants including the root system. It has been suggested that Las negatively affects citrus microbiome. On the other hand, members of citrus microbiome also i...

Antagonistic Potential of Mycorrhiza Associated Pseudomonas Putida against Soil Borne Fungal Pathogens

Mycorrhizal spores were found to be closely associated with bacteria on their spore wall surface known as mycorrhiza associated bacteria (MAB) and its play a major role in the plant growth promotion by production of many known and unknown metabolites, nutrient solubilization and suppression of many soil borne pathogens in rhizosphere of crop plants. The present study was carried out to understa...

Isolation and characterization of plant growth-promoting bacteria from Syrian bean caper (Zygophyllum fabago) rhizosphere

Some rhizobacteria have positive effects on plants growth. Syrian bean-caper (Zygophyllum fabago) is a weed plant with medicinal value. This study was conducted to isolate and identify bacteria from Syrian bean-caper rhizosphere. Characteristics associated with plant growth stimulation, such as phosphate and zinc dissolution, production of Indole acetic acid and antifungal activity, were invest...

Isolation and Characterization of Plant Growth Promoting Antagonistic Bacteria from Cotton and Sugarcane Plants for Suppression of Phytopathogenic Fusarium Species

Background: Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) may be utilized to augment plant growth and suppress the plant pathogens. Objective: The present study was conducted to isolate and characterize the antagonistic bacteria indigenous to cotton and sugarcane rhizosphere in Pakistan, and to evaluate their ability to suppress phytopathogenic Fusarium spp. Out of 63 is...

Antagonistic and Inhibitory Effect of Some Plant Rhizo-Bacteria Against Different Fusarium Isolates on Salvia officinalis

Rhizo-bacteria of high biocontrol potential against different Fusarium isolates were bio-assayed under both laboratory and greenhouse conditions. Eighty five rhizo-bacteria isolated from the rhizosphere of plants growing in various desert areas were screened for their antagonistic activity against eight Fusarium isolates (four isolates of Fusarium solani and four isolates of Fusarium oxysporum)...
